and great use of materials, new and recycled, is the
DeMeo Residence in Austin, Texas by hatch +
ulland owen architects. The owner of the house is a
collector of random things, and his house exhibits
these through the architecture. It was built on an
existing foundation in an effort to save resources
and money. One of the largest investments was a
purchase Bill DeMeo made on ebay of six 58 ft.
trusses salvaged from a recording studio in
Nashville which encompass the living room,
kitchen, and dining area. The project is an excellent
use of space and materials, and it successfully
incorporates the old with the new.
